Dr. Jennifer Dunbar, Principal
Dear M.E. Lewis School Family,
It is an honor to enter my first full year as principal of Marvin E. Lewis Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year! I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to provide a supportive school environment while providing them a world-class education to give a voice to our mantra of “Learning Every Day in Every Way.”
I arrive to M.E. Lewis as a seasoned educator with experience and expertise from previously held roles as a K-5 classroom teacher and academic coach, school improvement specialist, and assistant principal. These roles provided necessary experience and training to support continuous school improvement through close, collaborative partnerships with the Georgia Department of Education to support federally-identified schools. Since beginning my journey in education in 2006, I have served communities in various Title I schools, these experiences ignited my passion to provide equitable, high-quality learning experiences for all students. I am a life-long learner and it is my sincere belief that this principalship will provide me the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to scholars as they learn and grow in the classroom. I firmly believe that our Bullpups can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community and our world at-large.
My conversations with the district, staff, and families thus far have brought me privileged insights into the core beliefs and values that underlie the Hancock County School District. With my goal of continuing the tradition of excellence here at Marvin E. Lewis Elementary School, I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. We will be meeting with parents, students, and as a staff throughout the year to identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent communication.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2025-2026 school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Dunbar
